School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Location: Clayton, AL (Barbour County Schools)
Compensation: $36.00 / Hour
Job Type: Part-Time (Contract)
Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and resourceful Speech-Language Pathologist to serve students in the Clayton, AL area on a part-time basis. This role is vital in identifying and supporting students with communication disorders that impact their academic success. You will work within the school environment to provide direct therapy, conduct evaluations, and collaborate with the special education team to ensure every child has a voice in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Therapy: Provide high-quality individual or small-group speech and language therapy to students (K-12) as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Assessments & Evaluations: Conduct comprehensive screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine eligibility for services and identify specific areas of need.
- IEP Management: Develop measurable goals and objectives; participate in IEP meetings to discuss student progress with parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Collaboration: Partner with classroom teachers to implement strategies and accommodations that support students communication in the general education setting.
- Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of student progress, service logs, and evaluation reports in compliance with Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) and IDEA regulations.
- Consultation: Provide guidance to parents and staff regarding speech and language development and assistive technology needs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited program.
- Licensure: * Current Alabama State License (ABESPA).
- Valid ALSDE Professional Educator Certificate (Class A).
- Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred, but Clinical Fellows (CFY) may be considered depending on supervision availability.
- Experience: Previous experience in a school setting or pediatric clinical setting is highly desirable.
- Background: Must pass a background check and fingerprinting as required by the Alabama State Department of Education.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage a part-time caseload and the ability to travel between school sites within Barbour County if necessary.
